Tuition Funding Available Through S.D. Department of Social Services

Students receiving benefits through the South Dakota Department of Social Services Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) may also be eligible for tuition assistance at Southeast Technical College through the SNAP Employment and Training (提前E&T) 程序.

Eligible participants must:

Be an eligible SNAP recipient;
Be a South Dakota resident; and
Be enrolled in an approved STC course or 程序.

How it Works

Follow These Steps:

Select Program

Select one of the approved SNAP E&T 程序 options.
APPLY TO STC

Complete the Southeast Tech application.
- For certificate options, select "Non-Degree Seeking" when asked "What kind of student 你是?"
- For diploma options, select "Degree Seeking" when asked "What kind of student are 你?"
CDL applicants should submit the appropriate CDL Class A or CDL Class B application.
应用 for Federal Funding

If 你r 程序 is eligible for Federal Financial 援助, 你 must apply and complete the FAFSA before receiving DSS funding.
验证

Once 你r application has been processed, an Admissions representative and DSS will verify eligibility. Students that are not currently eligible for SNAP will be sent an application to complete. The SNAP application can also be completed online.
Official Schedule

Southeast Technical College will complete the registration and send 你 a class schedule.

STC will bill DSS directly.
Work with 你r case managers

DSS and STC will provide case managers to ensure that participants enrolled in SNAP E&T receive the supports and services they need to successfully complete their education 程序 and transition into employment.

Covered 成本

The SNAP Employment and Training 程序 funding covers Southeast Tech’s tuition and fees for approved courses and 程序s, including the $75 registration fee.

Additional Assistance

Additional assistance through DSS may be available to help cover education-related costs that will promote a student’s success in their 程序. Examples include transportation expenses, tools, uniforms, etc.
